The upbeat but elegant Guanajuato State Library, designed under strict cost constraints, was selected in March 2009 as a recipient of the 2009 AIA/ALA Library Building Award which celebrates the finest examples of libraries designed by architects licensed in the United States. It is a rare use of the traditional Mexican cantera volcanic stone in a modern building.
